Airhockey Games TableReal Air Hockey Game Tables! Who needs a PC?

Just about anyone with a pulse will play air hockey games given half the chance, be they man, woman, or child. You're not confined to the big tables right in order to have fun either. It used to be the case that the big Table Top Air Hockey games were restricted to local gaming halls or arcades, but not anymore. Cheap air hockey tables are available at from most high street stores, and they're a great distraction from the computers that so many kids are addicted to these days. Okay, so it's possible to play air hockey games online, but there's nothing to compare to the real physical game with a few mates all battling it out around a table at home.

A new range of table hockey from Stiga hockey is becoming very popular. Stiga hockey is a lot of fun, but there's still something wonderful about table top air hockey that makes it so habitual, maybe it's the simplicity. Whether you're into the popular Stiga or Air hockey tables of conventional air hockey, try to stay away from that online air hockey because the whole idea is to bring home air hockey game tables for all the family to enjoy. In other words, get off the PC, get off your butts, and start moving. When you get to play air hockey games in the real world as opposed to the virtual, then you will understand this paragraph.

Anyone who's had experience playing on air hockey game tables will tell you that there's more to this fun activity than just hitting pucks from one side to the other, even though that in itself is incredibly addictive and heaps of fun. No, unlike the air hockey games online, you can play in teams with real people, break out into real sweat, chase around the table, and really enjoy the camaraderie of your fellows. Sound a bit drab? Well it's not, and what's more it's far better for developing social skills, fitness levels, and friendships, than an virtual version of this great entertainment.

If you're under 40 years old, you probably won't know about all the fun of the fairground that us olds use to have. There were no joysticks and virtual competitors in those days, oh no, those air hockey games online weren't even under construction. We used to get out and compete in the real world. Oh yes, socialise with our peers and play air hockey games on cheap air hockey tables for a penny a match and it did us the world of good and still gives many of us fond memories.

Now is the time to take a break from the internet revolution and get the whole family up and moving again as a unit. Let's encourage interaction and enjoyment in the real world before we all become little more than living holograms of out former selves. So c'mon folks, let's take the air hockey games online into the physical world, and do our bit in getting the country back into shape again! Are you now ready for air hockey games, the table football game, or other action packed fun for your family?

DID YOU KNOW THIS? Did you know that the air hockey game was invented sometime between 1969-1971, although some reports say a form of the game dates back to the mid 1850's. The original inventor is also somewhat of a mystery, but whoever, whenever, the air hockey games and tournaments have been popular ever since, and we're all grateful for that.

Air Hockey Glossary Terms

#1 What is the Attacker in Air Hockey? - This is the name given to the player who currently controls the air hockey puck.

#2 The Bank shot is the term used when a shot crosses the center line and then guides the puck into the right or left rail on its way toward the end goal.

#3 Air Hockey Block: As the name implies, a block is simply a save. A defensive player 'blocks' the incoming puck from the opponent from entering their goal. It's a great feeling to save an aggressive attack on your goal.

#4 The Center Line. The center line, as the name implies, is a line that runs the width of the table thus dividing it into two equal halves. This horizontal line is visible on most air hockey tables, but not all.

#5 The Charge: As the name implies, this is when a player lunges forward as the opponents shot flies across the center line. On the face of it’s a simple defensive technique, but it's not easy to master well.

#6 The Chase Shot: Picture this: A player moves outwards as he strikes the puck. It's just rebounded off of his back rail and is moving quickly on the way to the center line. This is the Chase Shot.

#6 Cross-Straight Shot: Nice simply strategy but not to easy to get it right, the cross straight shot is when a strike is launched from one side of the air hockey table and crosses on the opposite site of the challenger's gaol.

#7 The Cut-Shot the cut shot involved slicing the edge of the puck when hitting it. It's a strike that is whacked in such a way so the motion of the mallet (tool used to hit the puck), is in an opposite direction to the puck.

#8 The Term Defender As in all games where there are competing sides, the term Defender simply refers to the player that isn't currently in possession of the puck. Try not to be the defender for too long ;)

#9 The Drift: This is a tactic to disguise attacks by striking the puck at an angle that is different from the drift. This is a clever and effective move when done well. The 2 most used drifts are the L-drift and the diamond drift.
