Low Profile Ceiling Fans for Low Ceilings!

Those of us with low ceilings used to have to endure the awful heat and humidity of long summer days and nights, or cool down with floor fans oscillating noisily in the corner. If it got too hot, then the costly aircon blasting away was the only other option. Well, these days the problem is over because decorative Low Clearance Ceiling Fans can be found just about everywhere, meaning the gentle air wafts can be enjoyed by all, no matter what the height of their upper surfaces.

The summer of 2009, just like 2008 and every year before that, promises to be a scorcher. Every single year without fail, when the hot and humid spells are upon us, there’s a mad dash to the high street as folks scrabble for any kind of fan in order to cool them and their families down so that everyone can get a good night’s kip.

fanRemote Ceiling Fans - Control at your Fingertips!

Remote ceiling fans (that is ceiling fans controlled by remote control) for low ceilings, have considerable benefits for their users. Simply by operating a remote control, a person can start the modern ceiling fan blades without even getting up of moving across the room. What's more, all the standard features today's low profile ceiling fans, such as speed, natural air, and timer settings, can be done by the simple click of a couple of buttons.

It happens every year where people get caught by a sudden heat wave and the whole country goes running to the high street stores for cooling fans. Before you know it, demand outstrips supply, and many folks have to sleep at night in heat, humidity, and that relentless still air that plagues a hot bedroom. Now if you folks had ceiling fans fitted, the heat wouldn't be such an issue. Homes with low ceilings can simply fit low clearance ceiling fans, so no one need be left out. Apart from adorning your light fittings, these low profile ceiling fans are not going to get tripped over, lent out, or broken, like so many floor fans do between seasons.

It's true to say that there is no shortage of happy customers now that the range of low profile ceiling fans offers so much more choice in styles and designs compared to when they were first introduced in any quantity. Air con is great when it's blistering hot and the humidity is unbearable, but there's nothing quite like the gentle air wafts from a ceiling fan. Not only does the breeze cool you down, but there's something quite tranquil about a gentle draft folding around the contours of our body on a warm summer's day.

I love my cottage style home. I also love my beautiful ceiling fan that we brought with us from our old house. We did downsize. We moved from a large, old Victorian home in the city to a small cottage house in the woods. I couldn’t part with my beloved lighting fixture but I didn’t really understand that it just wouldn’t fit in the new house until we actually moved into the home. Those darn ceiling fans lights can be a bit of a bug bear at times.

Having a low ceiling, I thought, would restrict lighting options in the new home, and was initially more than a little disgruntled at the thought we’d not be able to adorn the room with decorative lights complete with fans. There just had to be a way, but I couldn’t see it, but thankfully I didn’t need to as the answer came from another.

We were shopping at Home Depot when my husbanded pointed out a very attractive lighting fixture on these white ceiling fans he's spotted. I loved it, but I also was a bit put off by the idea of my husband teasing me like that. Then he explained that the object was a low profile ceiling fan. These items don’t hang down nearly as low as their counterparts.

Moreover, the particular fans he was directing to were on offer in the discount ceiling fans area of the shop and the prices were extremely favorable. Ornamental fans for the home have certainly come down in price yet up in quality over the years. My initial concerns about not being able to fix ceiling fans with decorative lights in out new home simply melted away on the spot

Obviously we ended up purchasing the low clearance ceiling fan. Once home, it was fitted without delay and it looks just fantastic, it really does. I am so happy that we have the look we wanted to capturer. Now we have the benefit of circulating air throughout the room yet still have plenty of headroom. I now love the the look of my low profile ceiling fans as much as my original Hunter and Hampton Bay ceiling fans, and that's saying something!

In fact, we are looking at the lighting fixtures in just about every other room in the house. I think that we could use several low profile ceiling fans throughout the home. These fans will make the rooms more attractive as well as more comfortable. Hopefully my husband will be willing to do a lot of installing in the near future.

You may have guessed by now that I'm a big fan of fans, so much so that I've got my eye on a couple of outdoor ceiling fans for our long veranda. The idea is that we can sit outside of a long summers evening and enjoy the warm breeze produced by these fantastic decorative and practical innovations

Hugger Fans – Comments submitted by Linda Pappa (Summer 2007)

Hi Airwafts. I just love what my ceiling fans have done for the downstairs rooms. Initially we were concerned with the blades being dangerously low, but we found a solution which helped a lot, which was a range of specifically made fans for low ceilings. These fans are designed to mount to the ceiling without a downrod. What that means is that there is an increased clearance from the blades of the fan to the floor and this proved ideal for our smaller rooms. These fans have all the same functions as regular fans but in a much less conspicuous manner. Apparently, low profile ceiling fans are also called Hugger Fans! Anyway, we couldn't be happier!
